The Winery
The goal at Talley Vineyards is to produce genuine estate-grown chardonnay and pinot noir wines of uncompromising quality that best reflect the unique characteristics of each of the Talley family's four vineyards.
Organic estate
The family's long history in organic vegetable farming served as great preparation for the guiding principles now employed in the vineyards.
Complete control over all phases of wine-growing is the guidance principle - from planting of vines ideally suited to each vineyard sites, to viticulture and winemaking that emphasis low yield and minimal processing, to the gentle bottling of the finished wine. All wines produced under the Talley Vineyards label are grown, made and bottled by the family.
Arroyo Grande Valley California
Talley Vineyards is located in the Arroyo Grande Valley, on California South central coast, eight miles east of the Pacific Ocean. The Arroyo Grande Valley is in southern San Luis Obispo County, just south of the Edna Valley and north of Santa Barbara County. Its a federal approved American Viticultural Area in recognition of the Valley's distinctive climate and soil characteristics.
The Arroyo Grande Valley runs northeast-southwest and opens directly to the Pacific Ocean, making it ones of the coolest and most temperate viticultural areas in California. These ideal conditions result in a long and mild growing season, with bud break tipically occuring in mid-February, flowering in early and harvest in late September.
